Happy New Year! 2017 has arrived and it is time for a new monthly goal post! Woo Hoo! I still can’t believe it’s already January! WHAT?!
I know it seems a little redundant to post this the day after I shared my New Years Resolutions but those are yearly goals. This will show my monthly goals. In order to achieve my yearly resolutions, I think it is important to plan out monthly ones. So here we are. 🙂
Anyway, is it just me or did December fly by? It was full of so many events – it’s hard to keep track of what actually happened. I guess that’s what the holiday season does for you but I’ll talk about all of that in my Highs & Lows section. In the meantime, let’s see how I did with my December Goals.
In case you forgot, my goals were:
2,000 Page Views, 75 Subscribers, & 50 New Followers on Each Social Media
I did not spend as much time writing or promoting content as I wanted to – life got crazy – so I did not reach my views or subscriber goals. BUT I did get lots of new social media followers! 47 on Facebook, 105 on Instagram, 153 on Twitter (thanks BrizzyVoices), and 190 on Pinterest – I call that a success!

Post Twice A Week
I did this every week except one – but I have posted a ton of New Years content this week so it averages out to the correct number of posts. So… success? 🙂
Get a Job
YES! I am now a proud member of the Marketing Team at Kalidy Homes, in charge of their social media accounts and blog! Can you believe G&G actually got me a full-time job?! I couldn’t have done it without the support of all of you! Thank you!
I read And Futhermore – Dame Judi Dench’s autobiography and thoroughly enjoyed it. In addition, I read Romeo & Juliet (yesterday – so it counts). Nothing like procrastination, am I right?
Although I didn’t accomplish all of my December goals, I did check off the two big things – so that counts. It’s hard to stay productive over the holidays. I’ll admit, I did not promote G&G much over my vacation. I am home and want to be present for that time.
Anyway, let’s move on to my Highs & Lows of the month!
- I graduated and got my first full-time job! When I get back to town, I will only have two jobs and no school! I’ll have weekends for the first time in…. ever. For as long as I can remember I’ve had practices, rehearsals, or jobs over the weekends. What will I do with all this free time?!
- I got to spend 17 days at home and had an amazing time visiting with
family and friends (and my dogs)! I visited the lake house twice and was able to relax a ton. Also, I got to take baths in my parent’s amazing claw-foot tub (I’ve missed that thing). 🙂 I’m so grateful for the past few days and wouldn’t trade them for the world.
- I’m starting to realize what being a “grown-up” is like. It’s dawned on me that I won’t be able to ask for time off as easily as I could in my retail jobs. School breaks no longer apply to me. For the first time, I will be leaving home without a set date for my return. That freaks me out. I mean, I live about 2,000 miles away from home. I’ll make it work but I’m not a fan of this new situation.
I tried to think of more lows but couldn’t think of anything. If that was my only one, I guess I’m in pretty good shape. 2016 was a rough year but it sure did end on a high note. Here’s hoping 2017 is better! There’s no better way to get it started than with some goals for the month of January!
2,000 page views, 75 subscribers, & 50 new followers on all social media
I can do it, guys. I’m determined. Nothing will distract me this time!
Speed up loading time
G&G has been consistently getting slower and slower. It isn’t terrible but I want this to be a top-notch experience for my readers. So, I want to make some changes to speed-up the load time.
Plan & Write content in advance
I started a content calendar this week. Hopefully I can keep that going and start writing posts in advance. I will be writing a lot at my new job so I’m pretty sure when I get home at the end of a work day, I won’t want to write some more. I hope to devote one day per weekend to plan, write, and promote content that will be scheduled to automatically post throughout the week.
Don’t become a hermit
I’m so worried that I will go to work, come home, put on pjs, watch Netflix, go to sleep, and repeat. That will be unacceptable. Okay, it will be allowed occasionally but I can’t do that every night. I want to plan outings with friends, have friends over, explore on weekends, etc. Hell, maybe I’ll even start dating again! –Any single guys reading this? 🙂 Hahahaha! Kidding, kind of.
Consistently Work Out
I didn’t have to do this when I was in school because I was required to go to dance class 4 days a week and 2 of my jobs included tons of walking. Now that I have a desk job, I need to make myself workout. I just lost all of my Prednisone weight – I don’t want to gain it back! Plus, I got a FitBit for Christmas. It’ll judge me if I don’t hit my step goal on a regular basis.
Read 2 Theatre Reading Challenge Books
I only have 4 left! Hopefully, the challenge will be complete by the end of February!
So there you have it, my January Goals. Can I complete them? I certainly hope so! I have faith. 🙂
