Y’all….It’s already June. No, let me correct myself, it’s already June fifth!! 😯 2017 is almost halfway over! WHAT?! I can’t believe it! I’ve really got to get my act together…Good thing I have a great support system helping me out and cheering me on.
Because May. Was. CRAZY.
Remember all those goals I had last month? Well…I’m going to be honest with you all…I didn’t complete any of them. Not. A. One. The reason I am publishing this on the fifth instead of the first is because I really struggled with whether or not I wanted to write a goals post this month. I didn’t want to tell y’all I failed and I didn’t want to make another list of goals I might not accomplish. I was (and am) embarrassed.
But, then I reminded myself that I accomplished many big things that weren’t originally on my radar. I really did cross a few big milestones.
- I’m officially a freelance social media manager for Randy Wolcott, Realtor.
- Glitter & Grandeur’s subscriber list continues to grow – even when I’m unable to post on a consistent basis.
- I (finally) curated my Instagram feed and have a cohesive design.
- Not to mention, I took a quick vacation home to visit family and see two of my good friends get married.
- And last, but definitely not least, I got a boyfriend…. Plus, I help manage his Facebook page for Voyage MDC 🙂
If y’all haven’t noticed, I am usually single. I don’t get in relationships often – hence all my single-life posts (viewable here and here). I still stand by all of those posts (they are all 100% true and I would still write them today – being single is nothing to be ashamed of) but I have to admit, it’s nice being in a relationship. I’m enjoying my time with Neil. 😛 (He’s going to either be really proud when he reads this or really embarrassed – but that’s what comes with dating a blogger, right? – Sorry, babe.)
Needless to say, May was a pretty great month.
I may not have accomplished my goals, but a lot of great things happened instead. Sometimes, that’s how life works. It doesn’t go as planned – but that doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
So, now it’s time for me to try again. You know what they say, if you fall off the horse, you have to get back on (or something like that). Maybe this month I’ll succeed in completing my goals.
Are you ready to see what they are?
Publish Posts Twice A Week
This has been a goal for a while and I can’t seem to get back on track but this month I am determined. I will do this.
Create & Follow A Consistent Social Media Posting Schedule (for Glitter & Grandeur)
I have this down for my other jobs but I keep putting G&G on the backburner. That’s not okay. It’s time for me to crack down and get to work.
Find A Good Work/Life/Blog Balance
Y’all keep asking me to write about how I’ve achieved this but I don’t really think I have. So, I want to figure it out so I can share my tips with you all. It’s tough but maybe I can figure it out.
I’ve been making some terrible food choices recently. I just haven’t had the time, energy, or stamina to go to the grocery store and cook. But my wallet and my body need me to start being better. It’s time to at least bring back the veggie smoothies.
Start Working Out Again
Even if that’s only doing ab workouts and yoga in front of the TV or walking on the treadmill, I need to start being better about my fitness. I have no idea how my body will react to it but it’s time to stop being scared of what could happen and start pushing to do better and grow stronger. Of course, I’ll take breaks and listen to my body – but I need to try. I’ll never get better if I don’t try.
Anyway, those are my goals for the month. I think they are more achievable than my May Goals. Besides, Neil and I are long-distance for June & July (I know…it sucks) so I will have some time to figure out my life and find a healthy balance so that when he gets back, I’ll be able to focus on us and work and the blog and my friends and….well, you get it.
People tell me I pile on too much responsibility – that I try to do too much. But I operate better like this. I just need to find my new balance and everything will be okay.
I’m excited to see what June brings.
April brings showers. May brings flowers. And June brings a productive Lauren (hopefully).
