Well, it’s Monday…. I don’t know about y’all but Monday’s are not my favorite day of the week. I mean, look at Fridays – the end of the workweek and beginning of the weekend – THAT is a good day. It is really hard for me to get out of bed on Monday mornings. Why do weekends go so fast?? I think we can all use an extra boost of motivation at the beginning of the week – SO I’m launching my newest blog series – Motivational Monday!
Every Monday I will post a snippet of motivation inspired by some of my favorite quotes because who doesn’t love a good motivational quote?
The first installment of Motivational Monday is…. drum roll, please.
Recently, I have been very confused about what I want to do with my life, my career, my passions, etc. This week, I was looking at inspirational quotes to try lift my spirits when I stumbled upon this quote. Walt Disney’s words really spoke to me. I’ll share them again, “First, think. Second, believe. Third, dream. And finally, dare.”
He is completely right.
When it’s time to get sh** done (whether that be figuring out your life plan, tackling your weekly tasks, chasing your dreams, or what have you), you have to stop and think before doing anything else. Make a plan. Figure out what’s important – what you want to accomplish – and think about how you can make it happen. Next, believe in yourself. You are your biggest, and most important, fan. If you don’t believe you can do it, no one will. Let yourself dream. Do what you love. Shoot for the stars. * insert another cliché of your choice * “And finally, dare.” This is the hardest part. Chasing your dreams is scary – like really scary. You have to take a leap of faith and trust that you are enough – that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to.
In recent months, I suffered from some health issues (read about that HERE), which forced me to explore non-performance career paths and discover new passions (this blog being one of them). It has been really scary to realize that, for the first time in my life, I don’t have a plan. I’m not sure what I want to do. I can perform or I can pursue other passions. OR I can try to do it all. Since finding Disney’s quote, I have taken a breath, brainstormed some options, and started opening doors to pursue these passions. I believe in myself and my ability to chase all of my dreams. Now it is time for me to dare to push open the doors to my future – letting life take me where it may.
Each of you can achieve your dreams. If you put your mind to it, make a plan, believe in yourself, keep dreaming, and dare to take the leap – you can do anything. I believe in each and every one of you.
How are you going to think, believe, dream, and dare this week?
