I’m going to be honest with you: it has taken me a while to sit down and write this post. Not because I have been procrastinating but because I didn’t know what to say. I knew I wanted to write a post with motivational quotes for starting the next chapter of your life, but I didn’t know how to do that when I wasn’t necessarily excited to start mine.
Writing a new chapter is SCARY.
Stepping into the unknown can be frightening but it can also be exciting! You get to start fresh! Start over! Leave the negative behind you and push forward toward your bright, shiny future! Anything is possible!
Then again, the past can be one of the hardest things to leave behind. Never regret it because it helped mold you into the wonderful person you are today. I believe that everything happens for a reason – you just might not see it yet. Some things you need to leave behind because they hold you back . Others, you need to keep stored away in your memory to remind you of what you’ve learned.
For the first time, I’ve had to work really hard to make myself excited for this next chapter in my life. I feel like I’m stepping off a diving board and I don’t know how far the fall will be or if I’ll sink or swim when I hit the water.
I knew I would be starting a new chapter at this time of the year but I expected it to be a different one. Although I don’t fully see it yet, I know this chapter is a blessing in disguise. I may not be off pursuing my career but I am able to continue my schooling for an additional semester. If you put your mind to it, you can learn a lot in four months. I may be starting at a disadvantage due to the setbacks my body has gone through in the past seven months (click here for that story) but at least I can start over. It will be hard but I am able to try – and that is more than many people get.
Change is hard. I’m scared – I’ll admit it. But change can also be good.
I have two Pinterest boards full of quotes that speak to me when I am scared or need an extra boost of motivation (you can link to them here and here) but these five really spoke to me as I got on the plane back to the midwest to start my next chapter.
It is so easy to sabatoge ourselves by overthinking the negatives. Nothing has gone wrong yet! So why do we feel the need to stress about what could go wrong?! Don’t stress about the negative until it happens – then, maybe it won’t happen at all!
My motto throughout my entire health battle the past seven months has been “baby steps.” This applies to everyday life too! Take baby steps if you have to, just take a step. Who knows? It could change everything for the better.
Positive things are in your future. You just have to reach out and grab them! Whenever I am having a bad day, bad week, or bad year, I remind myself that better times are coming. It’s going to be okay.
I firmly believe that it is vital to find the positive in every situation. (I even wrote a whole blog post about it here!) Spread sparkle, not sadness.
Here you go! Focus on the adventure ahead of you. It’s exciting! You are heading out to explore and chart your own future. It’s time for you to make great things happen!
I hope these quotes inspire you as much as they did me. Don’t be scared to jump into your next chapter. Embrace it! Challenge it! Set goals for yourself and don’t stop until you achieve them!
